“Love handles,” “saddle bags,” cellulite. We have all heard these terms and have also likely experienced on our own bodies the fat deposits that these phrases describe. These problem areas are difficult to tackle with exercise alone because exercise can only produce general weight loss and cannot target fat reduction in specific areas. Fortunately, the CIMA Life division offers our patients Mesotherapy injection treatment, which helps eliminate the fat in these stubborn problem areas.
What is Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a medical technique that uses microinjections of conventional or homeopathic medication and/or vitamins into the second layer of skin, called the mesoderm, to deliver healing or corrective treatment to a specific area of the body. Mesotherapy has been recognized as the latest breakthrough in aesthetic medicine for body sculpting, cellulite reduction, and skin rejuvenation.
In many cases, Mesotherapy treatment offers an alternative to even the safest form of liposuction. Tumescent liposuction has been recognized worldwide as the technique permitting the greatest safety, the most rapid recovery, the least pain and the best aesthetic results. Nevertheless, about 100 people die every year because of liposuction. Mesotherapy has caused no deaths, strokes or heart attacks in its entire history of use.
Furthermore, liposuction is not indicated for the reduction of cellulite. In fact, liposuction can make cellulite appear even more pronounced. Mesotherapy, on the other hand, can be used to reduce or entirely remove the appearance of cellulite and fat pockets.
How Many Treatments are Needed
An injection treatment cycle could require as few as 4 or as many as 10 treatments or more depending on the size of the area being treated and the results desired. When patients follow the pretreatment preparations for this procedure there is little to no recovery time. Patients can get back to their regular activities within 24 to 48 hours.
Will the Results Last
Yes! Mesotherapy is effective for the treatment of cellulite or targeted body sculpting and spot fat reduction, including weight loss and produces long-lasting results. During Mesotherapy the targeted fat cells are destroyed and then later excreted by the patient through urination and defecation. Of course, patients can still gain weight through poor diet and lack of exercise, but they will not regain the fat lost through Mesotherapy.
